Leaders' Bios

Judy/Rich - Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday, 2-3:30 p.m.

Rich and Judy have been members of COS for about 3 years, since Rich retired from Union Pacific and they moved back to Chicago (for the 4th time). They are active retirees, volunteering with CFF and LVP, and enjoy sports and cultural pursuits (when that is possible). They are excited to participate in a small study group and learn about Acts and get to know each other!

Shannon/Alex - Thursday, 7-8:30 p.m.

Alex: I started going to COS about four years ago because I was moving to Chicago and wanted a church with a ton of community service opportunities. I am looking forward to working on my relationship with the Bible through the Bible project.

Shannon: I have been a member of COS since 2013, and I co-lead the Centering Prayer and Lectio Divina group. Through Lectio Divina practices and reading the Bible in a COS EfM group, I've grown in my faith and developed new insights and questions about God's work in the world and in my life. I am so excited to explore Acts with members of the COS community and learn together. I am currently a graduate student at the University of Chicago Divinity School, and would love to bring a bit of my coursework in the New Testament and Koine Greek to the small group, along with some exploration of Lectio Divina.

Mark - Monday, 7-8:30 p.m.

I have attended COS since 1979 and have loved being a part of the community. Activities at COS include over 30 years teaching Sunday School, approximately 20 ASP trips +/-, Vestry member, Stewardship Chairs, and Education for Ministry student.

Betsy - Weekday morning

My name is Betsy Peterson. I've been at COS for 33 years. I've been studying the Scriptures every Tuesday with a fabulous group of women for hmmm, sorry, COVID brain, for quite a while. Reading and meditating on the Scriptures together is a source of delight, insight, and spiritual growth. Bible study is espresso for the soul!

Trish - Wednesday evening

I've been at COS since 2006 and have served on Vestry, Parish Council, and within the Diocesan program Keeping God's People Safe.

Anthony - Saturday, 10-11:30 a.m. (Flexible start time)

I've been with the good people of COS since Palm Sunday 2015 as an assisting priest. My involvement is mostly liturgically, but I have had numerous occasions to assist as pastor, advisor - both in spiritual and outreach, and as a participant in other small groups. I look forward to walking through Scripture with you.

Peter - Sunday, 5-6:30 p.m.

Peter Civetta has been a member of COS since the early 90s (albeit with a 12 year break in the early 2000s). He has volunteered in the Sunday School atria since his return, and he is an occasional preacher. He works at Northwestern University and runs a small non-profit children's theater in Evanston.
