The Mascari Family

Michael and Cate Mascari began their careers as Episcopal musicians at Grace Episcopal in New Lenox, IL, shortly after they were married in 2001.  After moving to Chicago in 2006 they were blessed to be welcomed into the COS community.

Cate holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Band and Choral Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and currently works in corporate development for WFMT-WTTW.  She also performs with the Chicago Chamber Choir, and serves as the alto section leader.

Michael holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree of Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Eastern Illinois University, respectively.  He teaches orchestra at Whitney M. Young Magnet High school in Chicago Public Schools and serves on the artistic staff for the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras, for which he conducts the Concert Orchestra.

An accomplished violist, Ariana is a senior at Whitney M. Young Magnet High School where she performs with the Chamber Orchestra.  In addition, she is a principal violist in the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra and plans to attend a conservatory next year to pursue a career as a professional musician.

Leith, a violinist, is a sophomore, also at Whitney M. Young Magnet High School, and is a member of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra.  While he loves music, his current goals are nebulously pointing toward some sort of career in science or engineering…or education…or NFL officiating…or music…
